Matiks, a Bengaluru-based social gaming startup, has raised a Pre-Series A round of $10 million, led by General Catalyst. Inc42 first reported the rupee figure as ₹95.1 Cr. Entrackr, Inc42 and The Economic Times reported the round.

Ronnie Screwvala, founder of upGrad, took part, as did existing investors Info Edge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners and Untitled Ventures. The role of Screwvala was first reported by Inc42. The funds are earmarked for international growth, an AI-powered no-code game creation platform, and fresh games along with social experiences. Entrackr first reported that the initial focus will be the US, before other major markets.

Matiks was founded in 2024 by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur. Bhatia is cofounder and CEO. As of September 2026, 2.2 million users had played 48 million games. Daily active users are over 300,000, about 3 lakh. Inc42 first reported Bhatia's words: "… We started Matiks with a simple belief: using your brain can be just as fun and addictive as any other form of entertainment. Our ambition is to make mind sports as culturally relevant as physical sports and esports – giving mental athletes, puzzlers, and competitive players the visibility, communities, and recognition they deserve…"

The previous round is reported differently. Entrackr said it was $3.1 million in August 2025, led by Tanglin Venture Partners. Inc42 said it was $3.14 million, in August last year, led by Tanglin. The app began as a mental maths game and now covers maths, memory, logic and puzzle games. It recently launched SNAC, a never-ending feed of single-player puzzles.

Why it matters

The round points to renewed investor interest in India's homegrown social gaming after the real-money games ban. A global investor leading an Indian skill-and-puzzle app is a useful signal for founders in the space.
