The 30-second read
- Blacksmith raised a $66 million Series C led by Sequoia Capital at a $1 billion valuation.
- Total funding is now $125 million. The last round, a $45 million Series B, valued it at $550 million.

IllustrationBlacksmith has raised a $66 million Series C round led by Sequoia Capital, at a $1 billion valuation. Entrackr, Inc42 and Indian Startup News all reported the deal. Premji Invest joined, along with existing investors Peak XV Partners, GV (Google Ventures) and Y Combinator. Total funding is now $125 million. Inc42 was first to report that the company is San Francisco-based. Entrackr was first to report that the money will go to growing the team and computing infrastructure.
The previous round was a $45 million Series B led by Peak XV at a $550 million valuation. Reports differ on timing. Indian Startup News says the Series B closed in March 2026, though the announcement came in August. Inc42 says Peak XV led it in August, so the valuation doubled in just over two months.
Blacksmith runs continuous integration (CI) workflows, which developers use to build and test their software ahead of a merge. It was founded in 2024 by Aditya Jayaprakash, Aayush Shah and Aditya Maru. Jayaprakash is co-founder and CEO. The company says ARR has grown 17x since January 2026. Weekly CI jobs grew past 90 million, up from 5 million, and more than 10,000 companies use it. It claims jobs run twice as fast and cost 60% less on average. It has nearly 10 MW of capacity across US and Europe data centres, with at least a 5x expansion planned in 2027.
Inc42 first reported a quote from Jayaprakash: "We expect that volume to only keep increasing as models get better and more engineers embrace AI codegen tools." Indian Startup News first reported that Isaiah Boone, partner at Sequoia Capital, pointed to the founders' "deep systems expertise and speed of execution". It also first reported that Joaquin Borggio, a LangChain infrastructure engineer, credited Blacksmith with "cutting our runner costs by roughly 40%".
Why it matters
Peak XV Partners and Premji Invest both back Blacksmith, so the $1 billion valuation is a notable gain for Indian-linked venture portfolios. The sources do not say the company has Indian operations.
