Granules India reported a 39% rise in consolidated net profit for the second quarter, to about ₹182 crore. The results were announced on Monday, November 2. Revenue from operations was about ₹1,560 crore, up 20%. For the year-ago profit, CNBC-TV18 reported ₹131 crore, while The Hindu BusinessLine reported ₹130 crore.

EBITDA was ₹337.4 crore, up 21.3%. The margin was 21.6%, against 21.4% a year earlier. ROCE stood at 17.6%. By the close of the quarter the company held net cash of ₹828 crore, a swing from the net debt of ₹101.2 crore it reported when the June quarter ended. Growth over the June quarter was subdued. That quarter had profit of ₹179.9 crore and revenue of ₹1,476.7 crore, first reported by The Hindu.

Dr Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, Chairman and Managing Director, said, in remarks first reported by CNBC-TV18: "Our quarterly revenue has crossed ₹1,500 crore in Q2 FY27 with EBITDA of ₹338 crore, despite higher input and logistics costs from tensions in West Asia." Management expects these cost pressures to last and plans to manage them with customers, with a lag.

CNBC-TV18 first reported the mix: North America made up 72% of revenue (76% a year ago) and Europe 16% (12%). By segment, FD was 73%, API 13%, PFI 10% and Peptides CDMO 3%. The US FDA made 11 observations at the Gagillapur facility. The company filed two potential first-to-file ANDAs in the first half, taking its total to three. The stock closed at ₹819.55 on the BSE on November 2, down 2.38%.

Why it matters

Granules is a Hyderabad-based, BSE-listed drugmaker, so its numbers and the US FDA observations at Gagillapur matter to Indian shareholders and the domestic pharma sector. The shift to Europe and peptide work shows how Indian generics firms are widening their mix.
