Bengaluru-based Karta AI has raised a $3 million seed round, around ₹28 Cr. PeerCapital and Cedar Hill Capital led the round. Wyser VC, CDM Capital and Seedstars also took part. The valuation was not disclosed, as first reported by Indian Startup News.
Karta AI was founded in 2024. Vijaypal Singh is its Co-Founder and CEO, and Abhishek Kushwaha is a co-founder. Both are former Razorpay executives. The company builds voice AI agents that take inbound calls for banks, lenders, fintechs and insurers. The agents can handle several requests in one call and work across a firm's systems. Fraud or high-risk calls go to humans.
Singh said: "Inbound is where financial institutions carry the most cost and where customers feel the most friction. We built Karta AI to resolve the hard calls, the ones that need several systems and more than one answer, and to bring in a human only when it matters," first reported by Analytics India Magazine. The same outlet reported about 2 million conversations a month across 25+ languages. At one home loan company, about 70% of borrower queries were resolved end to end, with about 50% cost per query reduction.
Indian Startup News reported 10-12 paying customers, including PhonePe, Pine Labs, Bajaj and Aavas. It also reported that level 1 queries make up 30-40% of volumes yet only about 10% of costs, whereas level 2 and 3 queries account for about 80% of costs. The startup moved into voice in August 2025. The new money will go into automation and multilingual skills, more work with financial institutions, and bigger engineering and go-to-market teams.
Why it matters
Calls are a big cost and a pain point for Indian banks, lenders and insurers. Karta AI already works with firms such as PhonePe, Pine Labs, Bajaj and Aavas, so its progress can shape customer service at Indian financial institutions.
